This walk had nothing to do with fitness

Recently some friends went on a Food Planet Walking Tour. What could be better but food and a way to feel less guilty about the calories.

We met at George's Hot Dogs that has been in serving Chicago since the year most of us were born.

As the storefront informs, You can eat in or take your dogs for a walk.

Our small guide did a great job of herding us along in the right direction--not an easy feat for our group.

Unfortunately, the picture on the wall does not resemble anyone in our group.

We loved Mindy's Hot Chocolate and homemade marshmallow.

I usually try very hard not to be in the front row but at this particular place the friends were very pushy about the back row.

At The Goddess and Grocer, you can purchase many local Chicago items including chocolate and bacon candy bars--in either milk or dark chocolate. We tasted an antipasto salad.

Here we are at Piece Brewery and Pizzaria. No, the portions were not small . . . much bigger than the taste that we had been expecting.

Along the way, our wonderful guide, Carrie, taught us about the history and architecture of the area.

By the time we got to the Sultan's Market, even I needed to take the sandwich home. It was delicious the next day for my lunch and I think I have finally learned how to pronounce falafel. Why did I think it was hard?

Oh my, at iCream Cafe, the ice cream or yogurt or sorbet is created on the spot using liquid nitrogen and you choose the ingredients.

The train was definitely the best way to travel for this group.

We were unanimous in our decision that this tour was incredible, delicious, entertaining, enlightening, educational and some more adjectives that I cannot remember.

The only distasteful part . . . is wondering if the pounds gained were going to be evident on our group photo.

I assure you, no pounds showed up in the last picture! This sure looks like an interesting day! I'm going to pass it along to our daughter. Maybe she'll make sure we get to a few of these spots next time we're in Chicago!

This post made me homesick! Of all of the things that Chicago has to offer, my husband and I miss the food the most. This looked like such a fun and FULfilling day! Love Di ♥

Oh, Wanda, you said it much better, catchier and conciser than I. You are a true writer.
