By George, She's Got It!

Yesterday we went to a White Sox ballgame. Morgan and Grandpa had so much fun whistling at good plays, pitches, pretty much anytime something relatively good happened. Grandpa is so proud of her talent.

Morgan has worked on her whistle for a long time but now she's got it! The-rain-in-Spain-stays-mainly-on-the-plain got it!

I am not talking about the "whistle a tune" kind of whistle. I mean a loud whistle--with fingers, etc. Here is a video so you can see for yourself.

So today, I was totally motivated to learn to whistle. I watched a few You Tube videos but they were not very helpful--except one gave me an idea of something to try.

I have a long way to go.

But I usually can make some noise as long as I am not laughing.

And I can not think of any good use for this noise.

And I have lived without it for a long time.

But an old dog can learn a new trick.

To prove it. I videoed myself because I was even too embarrassed to ask hubby to video me.

And here it is:

And now excuse me while I go wet my whistle.

Hmmm. It works on my computer. If it doesn't work for anyone else, I will go unproven but I will still know that I can whistle.

Wow, I am totally impressed! I never could do that whistle with the fingers. I heard it just fine! Learning something new everyday is a good thing!

I heard it just fine also. Morgan is great, but you are right--you might need a little more practice! Ha! Look who's talking--I've never perfected a whistle either--not the loud-get-your-attention kind.

Good for you Brenda, I heard it loud and clear this morning. You sound great.......:-) Hugs

LOL!! I love to whistle but it take four fingers and like you, I can't be laughing. Now you and Morgan have something in common and I am sure she will really be impressed by you.

You go girls!! Both of you.
I have always been embarrassed because I can do the LOUD whistle...but I don't use any fingers....jut the bottom lip...and it is ear-piercing. I used to call the cows from the back pasture by doing that....and I thought everyone could. Once, when I wanted to get someone's attention (probably my daughter's or husband's) I let 'er rip....and people turned to stare (including the daughter and my husband.) I forgot where I was...and how loud it is. Comes in handy, though.
I dooooo smile at the whistles girls....and applaude you greatly.
We'll have to meet and 'whistle'...
Many smiles to you. I love your blog.
Always,
Jackie

Oh my, Jackie, you are my hero! Ear splitting and no fingers! Wow! I can't practice any more for a few days because I am hyperventilating and my tongue is getting sore where I hold my fingers against it and I am losing my voice. Hubby is traveling so I have been free to practice. :-)

Thank you, Brenda....
How funny...whistling girls!
I stumbled on doing that quite by accident. I was rolling my tongue against my teeth in a fast fashion...hard to explain....quite like telling someone how to whistle through their fingers...which I can't do...sigh. Wish I could...anyway, I heard a little whistle...and then...kept it up....and before long, the ear-splitting sound just happened. The cows learned it quickly...so, my job: call the cows. We don't have animals here on our farm in Georgia...but I do get out and whistle in the wind...just because I can.
Thank you for the comment on my blog. And yes, I always come back to the sites....I love to read others' comments to you, too....that's fun to me.
I was 59 on August 24. I guess next year will be the big 'boo hoo' year....but I don't feel it...so, I don't worry about it.
Hugs and many many smiles to you.
Thank you for visiting my blog...and YOU are my hero!!! I wish I could whistle through MY fingers!!!
Smiles,
Jackie

I'm so proud of both of you! I could never get the hang of a normal pursed lip type whistle or the fingers in the mouth whistle but I learnt to whistle quite loudly my very own way. Now my oldest wants to learn to whistle and I have no idea how to teach him!!!

Well if I can just squeeze in here below Jackie...I'll tell you how impressed I am...but then Jackie surprises me too with no fingers!

I don't know how this post escaped me for a few days...but it happens...I'm 64 after all...and Morgan is better than you Brenda!

Brenda! This is absolutely amazing! And even more impressive is that you took such a clear and steady video of yourself - in a bathroom mirror no less!

I have my work cut out for me. Perhaps you could let me know which UTube video you found most helpful.

I can't whistle AT ALL! It's pathetic really!

Nice blog, I've been reading back, really enjoyed your posts!

I stopped in here via Diana's.

Keep up the good work!
All the best,
Eileen

Sure Barb, I will show you what I do. I bet you can do it--course, I suppose you really should learn from more of a pro like Morgan or Bob.

Hey Brenda, you are a villager as well and a welcome one. It orginiated when a few of us began blogging about the same time and we encouraged each other to keep going, we supported each other then and continue to do so and we embrace you with open arms... have a great day.....:-) Hugs

Are you whetting your whistle?
Welcome to the village. We have one village idiot....that would be me...but I'll deny it if anyone ELSE says it.
Many smiles,
Jackie
