Sea como sea

We had the opportunity to go for a few days to Cancun—mostly business for Bob.

However, I usually love to do an excursion of some kind and see the area and learn or experience something new when I accompany Bob.

However, this time, I wanted to be careful not to spend any extra money because after all, we are building a new home and have not sold our current home.

However, I did want to enjoy the water and sunshine and relax and read books. I went well supplied and read four books that were just fun.

However, the weather was uncharacteristically cool and rainy with two downpour drenching rainy days and temperatures never getting above 62 degrees.

However, we did enjoy watching the coatis. I loved sitting and listening to their chirping sounds. They were quite tame and although I did not have my camera ever with me, the phone worked well enough to capture a couple of shots.

I do so wish that I could speak Spanish.

However, it was a joy to hear “Hola” and other gracious phrases every time I stepped out of our room.

SĂ, gracias, I am remembering this trip con mucho gusto.

What a nice little mid winter surprise Brenda! I'm sorry that you didn't have much sun, something that I have been longing for!
Any book recommendations? I'll be finished with mine tonight!
I don't know that I've ever seen a Coatis. They are very cute!
Love Di ♥

62 degrees is a lot warmer than 26degrees, like it is here at the moment!
I have never seen or even heard of a coatis before this, Brenda! Looks like a cross between an anteater and a chihuahua, but cuter.

Diana,

What kind of books do you enjoy?

The books that I listed here are vacation books . . .
A friend that really enjoys Christian fiction loaned me these books to take to Cancun. Some were Christian fiction, some were not. All were quick reads and I enjoyed them all.

Scoop by Rene Gutteridge
Back Home Again by Melody Carlson (It is book one of the Grace Chapel Hill series)
The Sunday Philosophy Club (Book 1 in a series)
44 Scotland Street (Book 1 in a series)
An Irish Country Doctor

A few more vacation books that I would recommend:
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (I imagine you have read this.)
Love Walked In and Belong To Me by Marisa De Los Santos
The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan
Water for Elephants
Dream when you’re feeling Blue by Elizabeth Berg

Someone just recently recommended Francine Rivers Redeeming Love and Her Mother’s Hope. I have not yet read them yet. . .

Wanda,
The people of Cancun told me they were Coatis. When I got home I looked them up on Wikipedia. I had not heard of them before. They reminded us of skinny raccoons except they were around during the day--unlike raccoons.

Yes, yes, 62 is much warmer than here but it was windy and required a sweater by the beach so I did not get an opportunity for the sun to show on my skin. I'm not complaining. It was still good.

Thanks Brenda! I haven't read any of those. I need to take a trip to the library. It's a long block and a half away! LOL!!! Love Di ♥

P.S. I don't care for science fiction or anything too depressing! Love Di ♥

No, no, many of those are light reading and none are science fiction or depressing. Enjoy!

How nice to have the library so close by!

Weren't you in our H.S. Spanish class???

Your surroundings looked wonderful to me. (Sometimes just a change is good enough!)

I, too, would like some book recommendations? Any one (or more) of the 4 stand out? Never mind. I just read your comment. :)

Some of the Elizabeth Berg books I've read have been "dark"/depressing. How was the one you mentioned???? I kind of enjoy those Alexander McCall Smith books. Definitely light reads, but actually there are some pretty astute observations re. human nature in them :)

Rebecca,

If you have not read "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" start with that book.

"The Middle Place" is true--about a woman with breast cancer. It did make me laugh. I read it when I heard my neice had breast cancer. It is not from a Christian perspective.

No, no, I don't like depressing books although I have read some that have been challenging and worth reading.

I also just read, "Son of Hamas" by Mosab Hassan Yousef. A true story of a believer that rejected his heritage.

I actually do not read that much--except when I am on vacation. It sounds like all we do is vacation by the recent book list. Not true though. We had particularly bad weather on our time away. I read a book a day for about a week. Not a good way to remember what I read.

A nice winter break.☼ I have never seen a coatis before either. Cute, in an unusual way. :)
